Hot Cake!

Nothing like a hot piece of cake, right?

Fresh out of the oven… warm vapour rising from the slice you just took, the aroma of the cake wafting straight into your nostrils…

Sigh;

I love me some hot cake don’t you?

Queen Vashti was one hot cake or at least she knew she was.

The Bible records her to be known as beautiful…

“… He wanted the nobles and all the other men to gaze upon her beauty, for she was a very beautiful woman.” (ESV Esther 1:11)

Sad thing was that she was one hot cake who believed that she was forever going to be hot cake!

But hun… hot cake definitely loses its warmth at a point.

In my family, we tend to bake just for baking sake every holiday and while doing so during the holidays, the Lord ministered this in my heart:

“Vashti thought she was hot cake.”

“What?”

“Vashti thought she was hot cake.”

The urban slang for hot cake means something that is greatly sought after at a rapid rate and guess what, Vashti thought she was that.

Why won’t she? See how men lusted after her!

Perhaps in your own life you’ve found that you are greatly sought after –

You are sought after when they are looking for a civil engineer

You are sought after when they are looking for an orator

You are sought  after when they are looking for a media star

You are sought after when they are classifying beauty

Still that gives no right to go against the authority of the king!

In preparing for marriage, kindly learn not to embarrass your boo in front of others. The King probably could have forgotten what Vashti did if it was done when no one was around but no! She dared to do so in front of all his subjects!

“… He told the seven eunuchs who attended him… to bring Queen Vashti to him with the royal crown on her head. He wanted the nobles and all other men to gaze on her beauty, for she was a very beautiful woman. But when they conveyed the king’s order to Queen Vashti, she refused to come.” This made the king furious and he burned with anger. (ESV Esther 1:11-12)

Jeez, Vashti… at least remember his authority over your life. She easily could have asked the eunuchs to go back and ask that she speak to the king privately but no, she blatantly refused in front of the entire Persia!

Humility is key even if you are hot cake, Queen:

There’s nothing more beautiful than a woman who seems to have it all or who seems to be a hot cake and yet maintains humility. Queen Esther is a great example of this. She knew the authority a husband has over his wife and she honoured it.

So in this Queen Esther Preparation journey, although you are hot cake:

Learn to maintain your humility and I daresay all will yearn for a piece of you:

Remember that God said of Saul: “Though you were little in your own eyes, did you not become head over the tribes of Israel. The Lord anointed you king over Israel.”

Remember to be humble even when it comes to a point where you are hot cake.

There is beauty in being humble.

Jesus loves you and I do too,

Queens in Christ,
 ❤
