Fasted Faith

Have you ever been in a situation where your faith is broken? I am talking about whatever faith it is you have in your preparation towards your goals in this life; most importantly your faith in God.

I have.

I came to a point in my walk with God where my faith in Him was totally shattered. I am talking about the, “I don’t know who God is anymore” kind of shattered. At the time; I even embarked on a 31 days fast around August of that year. Yep, 31 days. 31 days of no food (I broke after 6pm). I even recall doing a 2 days straight no water nor food even after 6 o clock; fast. I must as well have added 9 more days to it to make it 40. Thats how much I needed for God to come through for me. Funny thing was that, the more I fasted; the more the hearts I was hoping God will deal with were hardened. They were so hardened that after I completed the 31 days fast; I was even more broken. I thought God didn’t love me and was not listening to me. After that, whenever I heard anything pertaining to fasting; I scoffed. I thought there was no power in it.

Little did I know that although I was not seeing a change to the things to which I was fasting and praying; God had heard me and in His loving kindness, He knew He can get me better than best.

He opened new doors for me.

How is your faith today, Queen?

Maybe like me; at a point in your life, you believed God for something and the situation still doesn’t look positive!

Let me tell you about fasted faith… the kind of faith that is built within you during and after you fast which convinces you that there is going to be a turn around in your situation.

Fasting is the act of abstaining from food or drinks. I know it sounds absurd that in a state where you are hurting, in pain, searching or confused, I am asking you to go hungry attached to it.

Hahaa…

Well, its not going hungry for going hungry sake but the kind of hunger that is filled with purpose. Fasting is the kind of hunger which hungers for God. Did you catch that? I can’t imagine God seeing us go hungry because we want Him to come through for us; and not be bothered that we are hungry because of Him. Rather, He’s moved by the faith we have in knowing that, when my God sees me hungry; when my God sees that I am abstaining from this food, from this drink, from this habit, from this negative thought, or even Ghana’s beloved fufu as seen in the featured picture; He will be stirred up to move on my behalf. So… it’s really the faith behind the fasting that counts.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (ESV Heb 11:6)

A God who exists will be moved when you are hungry.

It’s only a god with no life… an idol… who is not concerned when you are hungry.

What are you hungry for today, Queen?

Queen Esther knew about the power in fasting. She could easily have said haughtily; “I am a Queen, I don’t need to fast. Just because I am Queen, when I go before the king, he will hear me out.” Thank God she realised she needed to hunger for God to come in on her situation!

“Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. (ESV Est 4:16)

Her fast before God led to the deliverance of the Jews and I daresay that seeing how her fasting worked caused her to have more faith in God.

Perhaps your fast will lead to your deliverance. This year, my Bishop has declared a 21 days fast in this month of January. You are invited to join in on this. I am going hard on it. Let’s hold fast to God and fast away everything that’s negative. Don’t feed your history… fast for your future. There is so much in store and I promise you Queen, that when you stand tall, even your past and all who thought to themselves about you, “Can it ever get better for her? Can she get better?”, will stand and applaud in amazement at all God will do for you.

In your preparation, what are you doing?

Queen up and fast up!

Jesus loves you and I do too,

Queens in Christ,
Ann Manu ❤
