100 Trips A Woman Must Take Before Marriage

Perhaps you are expecting to be told that, “Hey, before you get married or achieve that dream job, you need to travel all around!

Go to Monaco!

Dubai!

Singapore!

– and oh, you simply must visit the Caribbean Islands!

Hahaa!

Whilst that will be fun to do, those are not the kind of trips this post is about.

This morning, the Holy Spirit reminded me of a certain lady that took about a 100 trips before she got married or attained her next level.

Wonder who that was?

Rebecca.

Yup.

Rebecca.

“Then the servant left, taking with him ten of his master’s camels loaded with all kinds of good things from his master. He set out for Aram Naharaim and made his way to the town of Nahor. He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water.

Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham. See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.

The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.”

“Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink.

After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels.” (Genesis 24:10-20)

Research shows that camels coming out of the desert can easily consume 25 gallons of water each. And the man had 10 camels! Meaning if we are to calculate it like that, she must have gone 250 trips to the well!

However, research also shows that a water pitcher from those days holds 2 to 3 gallons. So if we give it a rough estimation of 2.5 gallons, she must then have made 100 trips to the well!

Sorry about all the math today but I was saddened when the Holy Spirit brought to my realisation that many embark on trips towards wells in their lives and then give up along the line because they felt it was too much to handle.

Perhaps in your walk with God, many times you have gone to His well, drawing up eternal life (John 4:14) but along the line, you find yourself getting weary, wishing to give up but please don’t!

Rebecca must have felt the same thing as she took those trips to the well to water the servant of Abraham’s camels. She must have thought to herself, ‘what have I gotten myself into’- yet seeing the magnitude of the task- she didn’t just give up and say, “I don’t know him anyway, let him take care of himself. She pressed on in hard work and she was rewarded!

When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring and two large gold bracelets for her wrist! (Genesis 24:22)

God may be calling you to take a trip towards humility,

A Trip towards hard-work,

A trip towards compassion,

A trip towards total dependence on Him,

A trip towards self-control,

Like Rebecca, this could go on to about a 100 and it  would lead you towards laughter (Isaac).

Queen Esther had to take a trip down the road of preparation before she got married.

The important thing to note is that God allows you to take these trips alone before you get to your next level.

What trip is the Holy Spirit probing you to take?

Team up with Jesus to take this trip,

Jesus Loves You and I do Too,

Queens in Christ Jesus,

Ann Adu-Darko❤️
