Hegai’s Beauty Tips

Once upon a time, in the land of Susa, the capital of Persia; young maidens were gathered to undergo beauty preparations before they meet the king. Only one was to be chosen his wife. Hegai was in charge of these preparations…

“The king is in search of a new Queen! You are all here to go through a period of beauty preparations before you meet him! Do as I say and it will be well with you!” bellowed Hegai, the King’s eunuch.

Shaken, Hadassah, now named Esther nodded along with all the other maidens who were to undergo this season of preparation.

“Behind me in that room are various beauty treatments. You can all go in there to treat yourself now-.” Hegai broke off because the young maidens, giddy with excitement did not wait for him to finish but dashed past him to make their selections of the beauty treatments. However, he was surprised to see one lone figure hanging behind.

“Will you not go in with the other maidens?” asked Hegai.

“I will… but first please tell me what area of beauty pleases the king. Is it the hair? That I may use the Oil of Jasmine to make it shine? Or the lips that I may nibble on pomegranates for the next 365 days? It’s the king I seek to please; not I.”

Hegai beamed greatly pleased with the wisdom of this young woman for he had been disappointed in the other maidens for not finding out what it was the king sought. Just as immediately she won favour in his sight and he sought to advance her into the best place.

Hahaaa… This scenario is my version of what I believe occurred in this scripture :

“So when the King’s order and his edict were proclaimed, and when many young women were gathered in Susa the citadel in custody of Hegai, Esther also was taken into the king’s palace and put in custody of Hegai, who had charge of the women. And the young woman pleased him and won his favor. And he quickly provided her with her cosmetics and her portion of food…. And advanced her … to the best place in the harem (ESV 2:8-9)

Don’t we all want a Hegai?

Someone who can teach us what beauty preparations to indulge in? Someone who will let us know what pleases the king?

God has granted us a Hegai though.

And this Hegai is the HOLY SPIRIT.

Because the Holy Spirit is a GUIDE.

And guess what? The Holy Spirit has many beauty tips! But His best beauty tip of all is water!

Yup!

Water.

The Holy Spirit is symbolised as water.

I am not big on using products so when recently it was impressed on my heart to research the beauty treatments used by Queen Esther during her 12 months beauty preparations, I went down the natural route and the first beauty tip QEP can share with you is to use water.

Hun, splash your face with water every chance you get.

Drink 8-ounce glasses of water in a day.

Take showers!

Bath twice a day! Make it a challenge!

Soak yourself in a bath…!

Above all soak yourself in the water which is the Holy Spirit:

“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me as the scripture said, “From His innermost being will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive…” (ESV John 7:37-39)

For He is also your Hegai; your guide and counsellor in your beauty preparations of the #queenestherpreparation journey.

I look forward to sharing all beauty tips Hegai gives to me on this Queen Esther Preparation journey.

Team up with the Holy Spirit and watch Him envelope your life with with beauty.

Jesus loves you and I do too,

Queens in Christ,
 ❤
